GrandyOats Granola Family

GrandyOats Granola StaffNat and Aaron, co-owners of GrandyOats and Organic Trails started working together in April of 2000. In college, they were the only two guys in class that drove VW buses. They reconnected in Portland six years after graduating and have had an amazing partnership ever since. Aaron is the sales guy, Nat the bakery guy. The partnership works very well and believe it or not, their buses also still work.
Nat Peirce
Nat PeirceNat grew up in Scarborough Beach, Maine. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Hotel and Restaurant Management degree in 1994. After deciding not to join the corporate world, Nat opened the Bountiful Berry, a small organic café and bakery in Bridgton, Maine. While running the café and researching ideas for wholesale products, the opportunity to purchase GrandyOats arose. After purchasing the company and two moves in Bridgton, Nat settled GrandyOats into the converted barn in Brownfield. There, Nat made granola and lived with his wife Tara and son Silas until the spring of 2005 when their twin girls Maggie and Polly were born. They now live in a home in Limerick Maine. In addition to granola, their lives revolve around family, community, and life in the country. As a family, the Peirces enjoy the outdoors year-round—snowshoeing, swimming in the river, and playing at the ocean.

Aaron Anker
Aaron AnkerAaron grew up in Schenectady, New York, where he spent a great deal of time hiking the Adirondacks (often eating handfuls of granola as he went). He graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1994 with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. After graduation, Aaron went to work for Stouffer Hotels and Resorts in the Baltimore Inner Harbor Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland. Not long after, realizing that the corporate hotel world was not his element, he moved to Aspen, Colorado, to manage a vegan bistro. After three years in Aspen, Aaron moved back east to Portland, Maine, and went to work for the Fresh Samantha Juice Company. There he was involved in a fast-growing natural juice company, recruiting and opening new markets in Philadelphia, Miami, and Raleigh. In 2000, he carried this experience to the GrandyOats family. Aaron balances his time between selling granola, working on his house, enjoying the outdoors with his wife Kate, their daughter Sienna and their dog, Luna.

Rich Raymond
Rich RaymondRich grew up in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. As a summer job through high school he worked on two tour boats that took cruises along the mid coast of Maine, one of the boats steaming to Monhegan Island. While working on the boats and hiking Monhegan Island, Rich developed an avid appreciation for the outdoors. After high school, wanting to see the country, he traveled west and worked and skied winters in Utah while continuing to summer in Maine. For a time, he helped manage a local sporting goods store back East, and then his friend Aaron told him about an opening in the marketing department at the Fresh Samantha Juice Company. Rich was hired and worked for Fresh Samantha/Odwalla for two years doing Marketing and Event management. Shortly after, Rich joined the GrandyOats team, where he immediately took to the wholesome Maine-made product. Rich’s other passions are biking, golfing, and music. He began with GrandyOats doing samplings in the fall of 2002. Since then he has helped us build sales all over the country. Whether driving the Granola Roller or the Vibe, he is always excited to visit customers or as he says educate new customers to why we are the best. His other role at GrandyOats is to run our demo sampling programs. Rich manages tastings of our fine treats all over the country. When not speaking the gospel of granola, he loves to hike with his lover Sharon and their daughter, Winter. You might also see him out at live music show. His favorite granola is Consciousness Raisin, while his favorite trail snack is Sun Raisin Spice.

Chris loves his music and hates to label what type, each week he has a new favorite. This week it is Mushroom Head. Chris is not a big granola fan but loves GrandyOats.

Doug is always up for a good time and loves fixing up his house in Brownfield, Maine. Growing up outside of NYC, he is a devoted Yankee fan but loves Maine and loves hiking the White Mountains. Doug is a true granola and a man with a GrandyOats vision.

Howard- Mr. Fix it
Howard began at GrandyOats at some point in 2003, no one can remember exactly when. Howard is a pleasure to have around when he is not on the road delivering to our local customers he is running errands, or fixing something at the 100 year old barn. He is always up for the challenge; it could be because after many years in the postal service he likes to deliver.

Jody- Ms. pack it up
Jody has been with GrandyOats since the fall of 2003. She has two little boys who are full of energy. When they are not keeping her busy she works at the bakery in our packaging department. Jody fills up all of our packaged granolas and trail mixes. Jody takes her job serious and always is willing for a new challenge. As you can see she does not like to have her photo taken.

Julie- Director of Direct Sales
Julie began with GrandyOats in January in 2006. Prior to GrandyOats Julie has a sordid tale, encompassing politics, environmentalism, helping the less fortunate and selling organic clothing but she has found her home at GrandyOats. Asked what she likes about the job she confidently responds, “the customers and the people I work with”. Growing up in Vermont, she says she is a Vermonter living in Maine. Yoga and weaving on her loom are her passions outside of work. However Julie carries the torch of granola wherever she goes.

Peter- Sales Manager
Peter began with GrandyOats in the spring of 2005. Born in Manhattan, he moved to the mountains of New Hampshire over 30 years ago.
