Our Team

Nat and Aaron, co-owners of GrandyOats started working together in April of 2000. In college, they were the only two guys in class that drove VW buses. They reconnected in Portland six years after graduating and have had an amazing partnership ever since. Aaron is the sales guy, Nat the bakery guy. The partnership works very well and believe it or not, their buses also still work.

Nat grew up in Scarborough Beach, Maine. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Hotel and Restaurant Management degree in 1994. After deciding not to join the corporate world, Nat opened the Bountiful Berry, a small organic café and bakery in Bridgton, Maine. While running the café and researching ideas for wholesale products, the opportunity to purchase GrandyOats arose. 
 
After purchasing the company and two moves in Bridgton, Nat settled GrandyOats into the converted barn in Brownfield. There, Nat made granola and lived with his wife Tara and son Silas until the spring of 2005 when their twin girls Maggie and Polly were born. They now live in a home in Tamworth, NH. In addition to granola, their lives revolve around family, community, and life in the country. As a family, the Peirces enjoy the outdoors year-round—snowshoeing, swimming in the river, and playing at the ocean.

AARON ANKER

Aaron grew up in Schenectady, New York, where he spent a great deal of time hiking the Adirondacks (often eating handfuls of granola as he went). He graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1994 with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. After graduation, Aaron went to work for Stouffer Hotels and Resorts in the Baltimore Inner Harbor Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland. Not long after, realizing that the corporate hotel world was not his element, he moved to Aspen, Colorado, to manage a vegan bistro. 
 
After three years in Aspen, Aaron moved back east to Portland, Maine, and went to work for the Fresh Samantha Juice Company. There he was involved in a fast-growing natural juice company, recruiting and opening new markets in Philadelphia, Miami, and Raleigh. In 2000, he carried this experience to the GrandyOats family. Aaron balances his time between selling granola, working on his house, enjoying the outdoors with his wife Kate, their daughters Sienna and Rubina and their dog, Luna.

What do you do at GrandyOats? I sell the best organic granola, trail mix and roasted nuts on the planet!
What's your favorite GrandyOats flavor and why? Well, Antioxidant Trail Mix, of course. It has a Good source of Vitamin E. 
What makes YOU a "REAL GRANOLA"?  You know what they say, Love the path you travel, and keep it real. That's me.

What's your favorite GrandyOats flavor and why? How do you choose a favorite when everything is so good? If I really had to choose, it's a toss up between Garlic Herb Cashews and Classic Granola.
What makes YOU a "REAL GRANOLA"?  Living the life I love and loving the life I live.

What do you do at GrandyOats?  Working to become the "gorilla glue" that holds everyone together.
What's your favorite GrandyOats flavor and why? This is such a hard question to answer and may change next month. It is a toss up between Coconut with Fruit (served with a little vanilla almond milk) and the Classic Granola with strawberry yogurt. Everything is so delicious. There is just the right amount of all the right things.
What makes YOU a "REAL GRANOLA"?  My love for Volkswagen and my new passion for healthy eating habits. Life is good.

What do you do at GrandyOats?  I have worn many hats at GrandyOats – from working in the bakery, as well as the offices and now onto packaging. I like to keep busy!
What's your favorite GrandyOats flavor and why? Antioxidant trail mixes – it's the perfect "anytime" snack.
What makes YOU a "REAL GRANOLA"?  My love for nature, four legged creatures, and photography.

When did you join the GrandyOats family? I joined the GrandyOats family in the fall of 2014 after moving back to Maine from Boone, North Carolina.  
What do you do at GrandyOats?  I am the Marketing “Oat”reach coordinator for GrandyOats. I venture throughout the Northeast doing demos, events and trade shows. You can follow my travels on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages.
What's your favorite GrandyOats flavor and why? A morning started with our Swiss Style Muesli has never gone wrong. Coffee milk, apple juice, maple water… you name it, I’ve soaked with it!
What makes YOU a "REAL GRANOLA"?  My love for sustainability and everything green. My curiosity of the ocean, mountains and everything in between.

What do you do at GrandyOats?  Food service sales and some key account retail sales support. My travels take me predominantly through New England but stretches into upstate NY and the Mid-Atlantic.
What's your favorite GrandyOats flavor and why?  Chocolate Almond Crisp. How can you not love a little chocolate milk after you’re done your bowl of granola and milk?
What makes YOU a "REAL GRANOLA"?  Hot chocolate from scratch, popcorn on the stove, and homemade ice cream. I want to know what goes in my food and where it comes from.

What makes YOU a "REAL GRANOLA"?  So I was working as a package delivery guy. Typical day on the job. I had to deliver a box to GrandyOats. As I approached the building I could hear techno music blasting. Lucky for me I was in my dance garb. When I opened the barn doors, package in hand, the music hit my ears. Immediately I grabbed my break away pants and threw them aside and started to shake my nuts. I was promptly yelled at about shaking the box I was carrying with the brand name "my nuts" on it. I was unaware nuts were so sensitive. So, long story short, they liked my non-rhythmic dance and hired me on the spot. This bio is my first job.

What makes YOU a "REAL GRANOLA"?  I eat only free range vegetables, my apartment and my beard smell of rich sandalwood, my clothing, footwear and toothpaste are made exclusively of industrialized hemp.

What makes YOU a "REAL GRANOLA"?  I believe in balance. I do my best to help make good choices for my family so, that we can let go of the times when we don't.

What do you do at GrandyOats? I am a baker. We make sure that simple ingredients are mixed, baked and boxed into the products you enjoy! 
What's your favorite GrandyOats flavor and why? Mine would be the Antioxidant Trail Mix. Every time I eat this stuff I feel great and healthy. It's the perfect trail mix.  
What makes YOU a "REAL GRANOLA"?  I've always loved the food industry. When I heard GrandyOats was hiring I decided to apply. When I first started I didn't know how many different products they made. Every day I enjoy working here. It's been a learning experience and I plan on being a "real granola" for years to come.
